For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at His mouth; for he is THE MESSENGER OF THE LORD OF HOSTS. (Malachi 2:7 KJV)
In the Old Covenant, priests were referred to as “messengers of the LORD of hosts.” All New Covenant believers receive the status of being priests. So it follows that we also are all called to be His messengers as well. As the scripture above speaks, just as it was in ancient days, our responsibility still is to seek the Word “at His mouth.” In other words, we are not only called to know His written Word; we are invited to walk in such intimacy with Him that we are sensitive to His living Word—inspired insights given to us for our own sake and that we might help others on their journey through life. Yes, we need to pray, we need to hear from God, and we need to fill this role of being “messengers of the Lord of hosts.”
Meditation verses:
Then Haggai, the LORD’S messenger, spoke the LORD’S message to the people, saying, “I am with you, says the LORD.” (Haggai 1:13)
“Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,” says the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 3:1)
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)
