Mike Shreve
A true spiritual awakening is what this generation needs: the reality of God's kingdom, the revelation of His Word, the manifestation of His gifts, the fulfillment of His promises, and the outpouring of His glory. All these things are part of Mike Shreve's declared purpose, because they translate into genuine, miraculous transformation in people's lives.
Mike's primary message to the body of Christ concerns the revelation of our spiritual identity, discovering who God says we are by learning the names and titles God has given us in His Word (there are over 1,000). God gave him this insight for the church by a divine visitation around 1985. Since then, he has written seven books on the subject, the latest being Who Am I? Dynamic Declarations of Who You Are in Christ (published by Charisma House).
In "Word and Spirit Encounters" the altar is always a major emphasis. The altar is a place of healing, a place of new beginnings, a place of connecting with the Creator, a place of positive change. Church is not just about hearing a sermon; church is meant to be a spiritual atmosphere, a place of encountering God--supernaturally.
God's promise to heal the sick has been showcased in Mike Shreve's meetings from the beginning, especially those gatherings assigned to that purpose. Though this has always been a part of his message and ministry, after receiving a remarkable visitation from God around 1985, miraculous healings began to occur more often. When this happens, it is simply God watching over His Word to perform it (passages like Mark 16:18: "They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover").
Let it be declared loudly, JESUS is the healer. All glory and honor and praise belongs to Him. He is the flawless One who paid such a painful price that we might be made whole, for "with His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5).

The Spiritual Journey that Led to a God-infused Life
Mike was raised Roman Catholic and was very committed, serving as an altar boy for many years. During that time, he was influenced by many sincere, self-sacrificing nuns and priests, but unfortunately, he was only introduced to a concept of religion, not the reality of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That did not happen until about a decade later.

As a teenager, he strayed away from anything religious. Playing keyboard in a rock band carried him further into darkness. Then the pivotal event happened: a near death experience at the age of eighteen that awakened him to the seriousness of life and the importance of living for that which has eternal value.
In 1970, in a desperate effort to find ultimate reality, Mike dropped out of college to study personally under an Indian guru, devoting himself completely to the practice of yoga and meditation. At that time, he began embracing many ideas out of Hinduism and New Age spirituality---anything that promised an experience of God-consciousness and Self-awareness. Eventually, he formed a yoga ashram in Tampa, Florida, and began teaching an advanced form of yoga to several hundred students at four universities in that area.

Thank God, through a series of miraculous divine interventions, the darkness of spiritual deception was driven away during an encounter with the LORD Jesus Christ--the One who said, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12). After this heart-transforming experience, Mike cancelled all his yoga classes, closed his yoga ashram, and began declaring that Jesus truly is the only way to eternal life. The early 70s was a powerful era when multiplied thousands were caught up by a tsunami wave of cultural change called "The Jesus Movement."

The Call to Radical Discipleship
About six months after his conversion, Mike was confronted with a very challenging biblical passage, a statement Jesus spoke to His early followers:
"Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple " (Luke 14:33).
Like an arrow, it pierced his heart and he felt the call to radical discipleship. That decision was a pivotal point in his life. Desiring to be fully submitted, he and another brother in Christ gave all their possessions and money to the poor, and began hitchhiking across the United States, preaching the Gospel on college campuses and street corners. Eventually this led to speaking engagements in churches, then tent meetings, auditoriums and open-air crusades outside the U.S. (ministering in fifteen countries so far, including India, Nigeria, Liberia, and Costa Rica).
Open-air crusades around the world have been tremendously fruitful. In Sivikasi, India (above) hundreds were saved every night. The Hindu people readily responded to Mike Shreve's message, knowing he once embraced their mindset.
"These Two Shall Be One"
In 1989, Mike and Elizabeth Shreve were married, that they might serve God and advance His Kingdom together. Both of them waited a long time for marriage--waiting for that spouse who was part of God's design for their lives. Because it was of the Lord, their union has borne much fruit for the Father's glory. As the Scripture says, "Two are better than one" (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

This joyful adventure of serving God with a whole heart has continued for almost five decades now. Mike and Elizabeth Shreve are visionaries. They are "true yokefellows" (Philippians 4:3). They love God's work and God's people and count it a great honor to serve in any way possible. They know that these are the days of harvest, as prophesied in the Word of God. They are engaged in developing strategies to effectively reach this generation.
The best is yet to come!
