The high priest of the Old Covenant provides a colorful, metaphorical picture of Jesus, our Great High Priest, under the New Covenant. Everything about the high priesthood in ancient times foreshadowed the far-more-important role Jesus fills in this present era: the clothing, the demands, the responsibilities, and the privileges of the high priestly office are all replete with deep prophetic and symbolic details.

The most important thing to absorb from this message is the fact that we have a High Priest who ever lives to make intercession for us. He is a merciful and faithful High Priest, because He faced all the temptations we face in life, yet He was untainted by sin.
