The first thing God showed His children after He delivered them from the hand of the Egyptians was that He was a healer. He even revealed His name as "Yahweh-Rapha" (the Lord your healer) (Exodus 15:26). Yet that was during an inferior covenant. How much more is healing power available now in this superior New Covenant era!

Isaiah foretold the coming of the One who would be "bruised for our iniquities" and in advance, he offered the wonderful, prophetic pledge: "by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Notice that hundreds of years before Jesus' ministry Isaiah declared in the present tense that through His suffering, "We are healed." How much more can we claim healing now, since the Great Physician has come and paid the price.

"The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up" (James 5:15).
